SCIENTIFIC INTERESTS

Main Interests:

Research focus: Geodynamic processes of continental collision and orogenesis. Mountains are the most visible features of tectonic processes on Earth, yet many mechanisms remain to be thoroughly understood. My research aims at unrooting these hidden dynamic processes and interactions to better understand these systems as a whole. By using numerical models as a proxy to nature, my research seeks to unravel the mysteries of continental collision and mountain-building processes.

PhD project: 3D numerical geodynamic modelling of continental collision
Supervisors: Filipe M. Rosas (IDL, FCUL, University of Lisbon), Nicolas Riel (Institute of Geosciences, Johannes Gutenberg-University, Mainz, Germany) and Jaime Almeida (IDL, Universidade da Beira Interior – UBI). Sept. 2023 – Oct. 2027
