Scientific Interests

Main Interests: 

Neotectonics, Paleoseismology, Seismotectonics, Volcanology and Volcanostratigraphy, Geomorphology, Geologic mapping and Geological Hazards. Among the work developed emphasis is given to: neotectonic and volcanological mapping, characterization of active faults and paleoseismology, structural control of volcanic eruptions, morphostructural and stratigraphic evolution of volcanoes, geological hazard assessment and characterization of tsunami deposits. Fieldwork has been carried out mostly in the Atlantic Islands (Azores, Madeira, Cape Verde, Canaries and S. Tomé e Principe archipelagos), Portugal mainland, Morocco and Brasil.
